A little nourishment.
Room to reflect.

Small invitations to notice what you need, make space for yourself and bring reflection into everyday life. Take what feels useful and leave the rest.

Reflections from Élan d’Elle

When being dependable leaves little room for you

Being the person others count on can be meaningful. It can also become so familiar that your own needs are the first thing you postpone. Making room for yourself can begin with noticing what your week asks of you, including the planning, remembering and anticipating that others may not see.

Choose one ordinary moment and ask: What am I carrying here? What support would make a difference? Which part could be shared, simplified or discussed? You do not have to solve the whole situation today.

Your circumstances matter. A lack of time, support or resources is not a personal failure. Sometimes a next step is a conversation; sometimes it is simply recognizing that you need more support.

A boundary can begin with a pause

When a request arrives, you may already be answering before you have checked your time or energy. If your circumstances allow it, a short pause can give you room to consider what you can realistically offer.

Try a simple sentence: “I need to check what is possible before I answer.” Then consider what the request involves, what you need and whether another option would work. A clear answer can be brief; it does not require a perfect explanation.

Some situations offer less freedom to say no. Consider power, safety and the support available to you. You get to choose whether this invitation fits your reality today.

Movement as an invitation to take your place

Movement can be a moment of expression without an audience, a performance or a goal to reach. You might enjoy a familiar song, a gentle walk or moving your shoulders while seated. There is no required way to look.

Choose something comfortable and notice your preferences: more space or less, music or quiet, movement or stillness. You can change your mind, adapt or stop. Listening is part of the experience.

Afterwards, you might ask: What felt like me? What would I choose again? These questions are invitations to curiosity, not a test of confidence or fitness.

These reflections are educational invitations. They do not replace individualized counselling, medical care or crisis support.

For now, requests are made by email. This form prepares a message for you to review and send to info@elandelle.org. It does not automatically subscribe you to a mailing list.
